A case of acute hemorrhagic erosive gastritis

Abstract
Fifty-five years old male who complained massive hematemesis and severe abdominal pain was admitted. Hematologic examination revealed the data indicating blood loss; hemoglobin, 9.Ogm %; red blood cells, 3,900,000/cubic mm; hematocrit, 36%; occult blood was positive in stool examination. The fluoroscopic examination of upper gastrointestinal tract revealed no particular findings, however, in the fiberscopic examination of the stomach, multiple and diffuse erosions of gastric mucosa were detected, and some of the erosive foci were persistently bleeding.
Conservative measures such as blood transfusion, electrolyte administration and gastric hypothermia improved the clinical signs and the patient was discharged on the eleventh hospital day.
